An updated version of Google Earth has hit the Android Market. Google Earth 1.1 adds an ocean layer allowing you to explore the vast canyons and valleys in the world’s deep oceans. Just zoom right down below the ocean surface and use the “look around” button to tilt the view. Very cool indeed.
Google Earth 1.1 also features hundreds of photos and videos from contributors who have shared their stories of the sea. Clicking on any of the little blue icons scattered around the seas and oceans brings up a balloon with information.
For those running Android 2.2 and have Flash enabled, you are able to watch videos directly in the balloons after clicking on an item of interest. This is very handy as it eliminates the need to open a separate application to view the videos.
Google Earth 1.1 is currently available for download in the Android Market for most devices running Android 2.1 or later. Just search for “Google Earth” in the Android Market on your phone.
