HTC Wildfire (Black)Telstra have officially announced, via the Telstra Exchange blog, that the HTC Wildfire will be arriving on their Next G network in August.

In a previous post, I said that I expected plans for the HTC Wildfire to be announced by either Optus, Vodafone or Three later this month but now that isn’t going to happen, at least not until Telstra’s exclusivity agreement on the phone expires. There has been no mention as to how long this agreement will run but I expect it to be 3-6 months like with the HTC Desire.

Telstra’s HTC Wildfire is a specially built 850/2100 MHz version designed to operate on Telstra’s Next G network, not the 900/2100 MHz version that is regularly reported on.

Pricing for the Wildfire has not yet been announced but Telstra have said it will be lower than the HTC Desire which is already priced very aggressively. If pricing isn’t significantly lower than the Desire, I doubt that many customers will be choosing the Wildfire over the much higher spec’d Desire.
