Nexus One with Google Maps NavigationIt has just been announced on the Google Mobile Blog that Google Maps Navigation is now available in 11 more countries. The lucky countries are nearly all in Europe and they are Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland. Google’s free turn-by-turn navigation service was previously only available to U.S. and UK Android users.

This new version of Google Maps Navigation, 4.2, supports search by voice in 4 additional languages. They are French, German, Italian and Spanish for Android 2.0 and higher. Search by voice was only previously available in English.

Google Maps Navigation 4.2 will run on devices with Android 1.6 or higher. This covers most Android phones such as the HTC Dream (T-Mobile G1), HTC Tattoo, Motorola Droid, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and of course the Google Nexus One.

There is no word yet as to when Google Maps Navigation will be available in other countries. We hope that navigation for Australia isn’t too far away.

To download Google Maps Navigation 4.2, search for Google Maps in the Android Market on your phone.
